UAE Take Home Salary Calculator

Enter your gross salary and see your real net-pay estimate — whether you're an expat with no deductions at all, a UAE national on the current GPSSA rate, or a GCC national under your own home country's scheme.

Nationality

The UAE has no personal income tax and no mandatory pension scheme for expatriate employees, so gross salary and take-home pay are the same by default. Some employers deduct a contribution toward employee health insurance as a matter of their own policy (this isn't a federal requirement and varies by employer and emirate) — check your own payslip or contract for anything specific to you.

Nationality Matters Here

Why Nationality Changes the Math

Unlike VAT or corporate tax, take-home pay in the UAE isn't one universal formula — it depends on who's being paid.

Expats

No personal income tax and no mandatory pension scheme. Gross salary is take-home pay by default — aside from whatever your own employer's contract specifies (e.g. a health insurance contribution, which isn't federally mandated and varies by employer and emirate).

UAE Nationals

Enrolled in GPSSA. Employee contribution is 11% if you joined GPSSA on or after 31 October 2023 (Federal Decree-Law No. 57 of 2023), or 5% if you were already insured before that date (grandfathered under Federal Law No. 7 of 1999) — both rates are live at once, depending on when you joined.

GCC Nationals

Not enrolled in GPSSA. Covered under the GCC Insurance Protection Extension System instead, with contributions following your own home country's pension law and rate — so there's no single fixed UAE percentage to apply here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Correct — the UAE does not levy personal income tax on salaries, wages, bonuses, or other employment income, for citizens or expats. This is confirmed by both the UAE's Federal Tax Authority guidance and the official government portal (u.ae). The UAE does have a 9% corporate tax (Federal Decree-Law No. 47 of 2022, as amended) but that applies to business profits, not personal salaries, and 5% VAT on spending — neither is deducted from your paycheck.

This tool gives a quick, sourced estimate based on standard published rates — it isn't payroll or pension advice. Individual employer benefits, contract-specific deductions, or your own exact GPSSA enrolment date can change the real number. For a UAE national's exact pension contribution, confirm directly with your employer's HR department or GPSSA.

The Net-Pay Companion

This calculator answers "what do I actually take home" — if what you need instead is "what does my annual salary look like as a monthly, weekly, or hourly figure," use the UAE Salary Calculator for frequency conversion. The two are meant to be used together: convert the figure there, then check the real take-home number here.

Where This Usually Breaks Down

The math above is simple once you know the right rate. What actually trips businesses up is payroll built on spreadsheets and manual HR tracking — wrong GPSSA enrolment dates, missed contribution deadlines, salary certificates that don't match what's actually paid. That's a systems problem, not a math problem — and it's the kind of thing I fix when I build out a business's CRM and automation from the ground up. See GoHighLevel automation in Dubai if HR and payroll records are still living in separate places.
